"The Garden of Allah" by Janet Hill
"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." Joni Mitchell's haunting lyric refers to the legendary Garden of Allah residential hotel at Sunset Boulevard and Havenhurst Drive in West Hollywood, that was replaced by a strip mall in the 1960s. (That is, in turn, being replaced by a high-rise today...)
